The Twelve Marketing Ideas of Christmas (Part 1)

Once again it’s getting close to that exciting and festive time of year. Christmas is usually an expensive time of year for the household, however for those of you with e-commerce websites, it can be quite profitable. Make sure that you’re standing out in front of your competitors and take full advantage of this opportunistic time of year.

So you might be thinking to yourself, surely I will automatically get more sales at Christmas. Most of the time this will be true, but in your specific market what percentage of those Christmas shoppers are you actually attracting to your website? Could this amount be improved? Could you double that amount?

Christmas is a good time of year to think about your marketing budget and to put a little effort into earning those extra sales.
Below are the first six marketing ideas to review and implement ready for the Christmas rush.

1. Optimise Your Website Page Titles

Your page titles should have a descriptive keyword or key phrase in it. Best practice is to keep these to a maximum of 70 characters. This is the character limit that Google will display in the search results. You may need to speak to your web developer or digital agency for help implementing your optimised page titles.

2. Run An AdWords Campaign

First of all you must do your research. Analyse your target audience and focus on what they’re searching for. Be careful though if you’re a first timer, an AdWords campaign can quickly become costly if you’re targeting the wrong keywords.

3. Dedicated Landing Pages

Create landing pages dedicated to the product/s you’re focusing on selling. Even just adding a Christmas vibe to these pages will help increase your sales conversation rates.

4. Publish A Press Release

A press release is one of the most powerful ways of gaining direct traffic to your website or a specific web page. Once you have created and optimised your dedicated landing pages, a press release is a great complement to targeting traffic to that page.

5. Publish A Series of Articles That Focus Around Your Products

You can build up more of a long term traffic goal through good clean articles. This won’t just help bring in Christmas traffic for this year, once the articles are indexed it’s traffic for life.

6. Email/Newsletter Campaigns

Why not make the most of your current customer base. Put together your Christmas promotions and specials into an email and send them out to your valued customers. You will be surprised; it’s a lot easier to sell to an existing customer than it is to find new ones.

I hope that I have got you thinking and that you’re enthusiastic about implementing some of these marketing ideas ready for those happy Christmas shoppers.
